 Historic South Coast Cottage, Marion, MA

Built in 1905, this seaside cottage and its carriage house had been remodeled many times over the last century. The owner wanted to restore the buildings to their original splendor,and create a setting for them that reflected a more contemporary lifestyle. CBA designed a granite slab-and-cobble parking court, a walled garden for alfresco dining, a quiet garden set into the hillside at the eastern end of the house, a front entrance walk of stepping stones, and an open lawn sloping from the house to the shore.   

Stately Mattapoisett Home, Mattapoisett, MA

This house and barn were completely renovated, preserving the historic character of both structures. A granite kneewall was added to the front landscape to create a plinth on which the house sits, and low plantings were added to the front yard to soften the base of the porch without obscuring the ornate historic railings. A new rear patio complements the two story addition made to the back of the house.
