Stable House - Columbia county, NY
The architecture of this home, a contemporary interpretation of a classic farm complex, reflects the history of the site while looking to the future. The landscape responds to this by using local stone, a simple plant palette, and the remnants of old structures in the landscape composition. The future is celebrated by technology; photovoltaic cells powering the house and barn are placed in a field to appear as sculptural elements in the larger landscape.
The project received a 2008 BSA Honor Award for Design.
